Job Description

Supervise engineering technicians and manage CMET projects. Responsible for business development of CMET services. With general supervision and heavy decision-making.

 Roles and Responsibilities

  • Train, coordinate, and manage engineering field technicians.
  • Administer performance appraisals.
  • Be responsible for salary administration.
  • Devise and implement (with approval) new CMET reporting forms consistent with computer / word processing capabilities.
  • Organize and review test and inspection reports.
  • Prepare proposals for CMET projects.
  • Procure equipment and supplies.
  • Be responsible for invoicing and invoice collection.
  • Manage progress of CMET projects.
  • Establish new client base.
  • Maintain existing clients.
  • Update and expand capabilities of material testing department.
  • Assist Division Manager in improving professional image.
  • Act as a consultant to clients in the use of new materials for construction and in the forensics of construction problems related to materials or techniques utilized.
  • Serve as in-house consultant to MEI engineers in use of construction materials and accuracy of test results, and implementation of research data.
  • Be able to travel extensively (required), both domestically and internationally.
  • Meet all utilization goals as determined by Activity Center Manager or supervisor.
  • Observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures.
  • Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company's processes, including safety program and quality management system.
  • Communicate tactfully and effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain effective work relations with those encountered in the course of employment.
  • Come to work regularly and on time.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three years' experience in facility maintenance and/or engineering environment.

Language Skills

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from vendors, contractor and customers/tenants.
  • Ability to operate proactively in an organized, independent and effective manner. Requires using considerable judgement when performing and planning to perform a task.


  • Must be able to perform but not limited to the following skills: carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, HVAC, machine repair, facilities layout, painting, and janitorial.
  • Required to be familiar with and use all hand tools and power tools common to the skills of a building/facilities engineer.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawing, sketches, instructions, and specifications.
  • Must feel comfortable with working in a team environment consisting of employees and outside contractors.
