Job Description

Develop project opportunities and markets, with particular emphasis on Northern California. Supervise projects and programs of high difficulty, with work being reviewed as needed. Primary Manager and client contact for multiple large projects. Supervise large, multi-disciplinary project teams and subcontractors. Handle all aspects of consulting business including participation in corporate management, business and client development, and direction of technical work. Competent in entire project cycle including client development, project scoping, team management, training, budget, schedule, and deliverables. Develop work to support multiple staff.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop project opportunities and markets, with particular emphasis on Northern California.
  • Excellence in client development and in maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Direct multiple projects/year (budget, schedule, scope of work, client relations).
  • Demonstrate excellence in report/proposal writing and verbal communication skills.
  • >65% utilization rate.
  • Demonstrate excellent reputation in professional community.
  • Maintenance of positive corporate reputation.
  • Design, implement, and supervise field exploration programs.
  • Develop scope, estimate costs, and procure subcontractors.
  • Develop and adhere to reasonable project schedules and deadlines.
  • Prepare and review engineering geologic analyses and finalize conclusions and recommendations.
  • Produce $750K+ revenue/year.
  • Prepare and review technical reports.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement of the company's processes, including but not limited to the Fugro Consultants, Inc., safety program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in geology or earth sciences.
  • 12+ years' experience in engineering geologic and/or seismic hazard site
  • assessments.
  • Existing client base to include Northern California businesses and agencies
  • C.E.G. license required.
  • Experience should include: site characterizations, A-P studies, performance or field exploration programs including drilling, trenching, sampling, geophysical surveys and analysis of test data.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient in project management and budget tracking.
  • Familiarity with Federal and State geologic regulations.
  • Expected to provide team leadership, task delegation, and mentoring of junior staff in technical and administrative development.

Communication/Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, including:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures, regulations, and technical information; and write reports with clarity using good grammar.
  • Ability to effectively present ideas and technical information orally in a clear and concise manner and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team, interacting effectively with co-workers, clients, and vendors; exhibit creativity and good problem-solving skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • California Certified Engineering Geologist
  • Driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to procure a passport.
  •  Available for domestic travel with possibility of extended field work assignments.
  • Ability to drive safely in metropolitan and field environments.
