Position Summary: The IT Systems Administrator provides technical leadership and support for Fugro's server and storage systems. The Systems Administrator will maintain superior knowledge of current and emerging hardware and software in order to maximize efficiency and utilization of Fugro systems. The Systems Administrator will work with IT leadership on environment design, control and security and will lead selection and implementation of leading-edge technologies that are beneficial to Fugro's business.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (Your Contribution)

  • Provisions, deploys, and troubleshoots desktop and notebook PCs.
  • Installs and supports standard PC images and related standard image software.
  • Installs and tests software upgrades, both desktop and server based.
  • Resolves Service Desk incidents within his/her areas of expertise and per service level agreements.
  • Application support across various enterprise and custom in-house application suites acting as a liaison between business and technical departments.
  • Participates in IT Services projects.
  • Advances IT service management principles and ITIL Lite processes in the performance of daily responsibilities.
  • Participates, as needed, in conducting wide range of IT "run the business" activities, including but not limited to establishing and maintaining servers, network, telecommunications, SAN administration, virtualization, cloud computing, backup/recovery and Service Desk support.
  • Trains users on hardware and software usage when appropriate.
  • Responds to the needs and questions of users concerning their efficient and effective use of IT Services hardware, software and resources.
  • Communicates with other departments/divisions/service lines to report and resolve software, hardware and operations problems.
  • Researches and evaluates new technologies when assigned.
  • Collects and analyzes real-time monitoring and system health check information.
  • Teams with coworkers on development, implementation and periodic testing of disaster recovery / business continuity plan.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties or completes special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Computer Engineer or related field from four-year college or university or at least five years related experience; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years supporting network-based systems and services
  • 3+ years supporting Cisco based Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks. (Knowledge of Cisco IOS preferable.)
  • 3+ years supporting enterprise backup systems
  • 3+ years operating and supporting Active Directory
    • Enterprise SAN & NAS
    • Exchange Server 2003-2016, Exchange online, Office 365
    • VMware ESX(i) 4.0-6.5 (vSphere Enterprise preferred)
    • Web-based applications in IIS
  • 2+ years operating and supporting at least one of the following:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to accurately engage stakeholders with different backgrounds, experience, skills, responsibilities and levels of authority. Ability to speak up, confidently in group settings and effectively communicate viable solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines; documenting and communicating regular status updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to develop creative and meticulous approaches to introducing, implementing, and supporting technology solutions
  • Must be able use discretion in handling Fugro-confidential information
  • Ability to effectively present information, responds to questions, prioritize tasks, and communicate in a professional and timely manner in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Highly organized
  • Individual must be a team player
  • Individual must be a team player and have a good ability to work in a cooperative environment. Must be able to work effectively with peers, subordinates, and superiors.
  • Driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • CCNA and/or MCSE / MCSA designation is a plus.
  • Position requires frequent and heavy computer use.
  • Employee must be able to work effectively with departmental and inter-company personnel to satisfactorily complete jobs.
  • Some travel required; ability and willingness to travel to remote sites/ Vessels.
  • Rotational on-call responsibility during business and non-business hours.
