Fugro is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Senior Geoscientist within our GeoConsulting team in Houston, TX, part of the world's foremost geo-intelligence company, with capabilities that range from state-of-the-art data collection to sophisticated modeling and engineering analysis. The successful candidate will be highly organized and detail-oriented. You will work both offshore and onshore, providing technical leadership, project management, and administrative support for marine site investigation reporting projects.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Oversees all daily activities of all project assignments, including geologic and geohazards mapping, characterization, analysis, assessment, and related reporting.
  • Accountable for ensuring technical accuracy, fulfilment of contractual obligations, and profitability of all projects assigned under his/her supervision.
  • Routinely interacts with clients on technical and administrative issues, and carefully documents project communications according to Fugro procedures.
  • Supervise field and laboratory operations of company and subcontractors, and solve minor problems that may arise in the process.
  • Provides responsive, accurate technical advice to clients.
  • Assumes technical responsibility for all reports conducted under his/her supervision, and is responsible for marking reports with own professional license seal.
  • Provides technical training, mentorship and evaluation of junior geoscience staff.
  • Maintains a good technical and professional reputation with Fugro client base.
  • Assists with writing project proposals and other marketing activities.
  • Actively pursues business development opportunities.
  • Recommends and champions development and application of new or improved technologies, data interpretation techniques, and other innovations.
  • Complies with QMS and HSE requirements; ensures compliance of subordinate staff.

REQUIREMENTS

  • M.S. degree or higher in marine geoscience. The ideal background would include a mixture of engineering geology, marine geophysics, geomechanics, and GIS applications.
  • 10+ years in marine site investigations with experience interpreting most associated geophysical and geotechnical data types used for geohazard analysis.
  • Proficient level on IHS Kingdom or equivalent seismic interpretive workstation platform.  ArcGIS, Global Mapper, Fledermaus or geo-spatial processing and analysis software a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, direct others as required, and collaborates across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including the proven ability to write detailed technical papers and reports, are essential.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Support for continuous improvement in company processes including, but not limited to, the Fugro safety program.
  • Acceptable driving record and possession of a valid driver's license, or ability to obtain one within 3 months.
  • Completion of a pre-employment physical exam and drug screen.
