Summary of Major Responsibilities:    Assists in the mobilization and operation of positioning equipment on survey vessels offshore in the Gulf of Mexico as well as worldwide locations.

Duties Performed:

  • Assists in mobilization and demobilization of surface and sub-surface positioning equipment
  • Operates surface positioning software and equipment under direct supervision.
  • Operates Ultra Short Base Line (USBL) equipment under direct supervision.
  • Maintains survey notes and performs geodesy confirmations under direct supervision.
  • Drives vehicles to and from office locations, docks and heliports; loads and unloads equipment.
  • Participate in JSEAs, HSE meetings and tool box meetings.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties or completes special projects as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Initiative (self-starter), requiring little to no direct direction from leadership
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Fundamental understanding of classic survey and how they pertain to offshore surveying
  • Fundamental understanding of all navigation tools and their interfacing.
  • Interpersonal skills to interface with key stakeholders as well as lead multi-discipline teams
  • Have highly developed communications skills, including writing and speaking.
  • Ability to meet necessary requirements to work in local and or international offshore environment.


  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school;or, equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Geomatics experience preferred; military experience with acoustic or navigation systems, or electronics is accepted in lieu of degree.
