Summary 

The analyst will be responsible for LiDAR data management and quality control analysis for the power service line. The data management component of the job will require tracking and shipping of hard drives, upload of data to Amazon Web Services, and communication with various parties on status and issue resolution. The quality control analysis component requires experience with initial QC of LiDAR data to identify data gaps, anomalies, or any other issues with acquired data, as well as communication with flight operations and data production staff to resolve identified issues.

Responsibilities

  • Track and receive hard drives from field crews, record pertinent information, upload data to AWS, and ensure timely return of hard drives to field crews.
  • Process or ensure processing of GNSS/IMU data is accomplished in a timely manner. Track progress and results. Address any data issues.
  • Run routines on data in AWS; identify and resolve any processing issues.
  • QC resulting data and promptly identify and address any data gaps, anomalies, or other issues. 
  • Recognize and solve problems on a timely basis to keep the project on schedule. Use independent judgment in determining courses of action.
  • Track and communicate status, issues, and resolution to all concerned parties in a clear, effective, and timely manner. 
  • Exercise creativity in assigned duties, analyzing processes to improve overall efficiency, quality, and profitability. Recommend changes and/or develop software utilities to improve processes. 
  • Know the various factors affecting production, such as time allotted for the project and its metrics, quality and quantity of work produced, and know project specifications. 
  • Assist technical lead, team lead or department manager in scheduling and expediting work processes. 
  • Provide technical support/input for the team, management, peers, and clients on technical matters relating to procedure and specifications. 
  • Take initiative in learning and applying new methods to production and quantitatively evaluate results and benefit.
  • Provide written and oral reports as needed on technical and professional issues.
  • Remain current on changes within the industry through publications, periodicals, technical meeting and conference attendance, and continuing education.
  • Project a professional appearance and cooperative attitude, maintain high ethical standards of confidentiality in representing the company to ensure a professional representation always.
  • Comply with and promote the requirements of the company's documented QHSSE system.

Requirements 

  • At least 18 years of age 
  • Legally Authorized to work in the US, without restrictions
  • Possess a valid driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Bachelor's degree in geospatial sciences or related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Requires 3 years' experience in a specific mapping science (i.e. photogrammetry, cartography, terrain analysis, LiDAR, compilation, aerotriangulation, etc.) 
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in geospatial software (i.e. ArcGIS, Terrascan, CAD, etc.) 
  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to track multiple tasks at once. 
  • Must be comfortable with rudimentary IT procedures to handle functions related to upload of data from hard drives to Amazon Web Services (AWS). 
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours to coordinate with team members in other time zones, including other parts of the US, as well as Australia and China.
